A day of unity and support for children affected by cancer

Participants came together to show solidarity with children and young people affected by cancer at the Children with Cancer UK dedicated wave at the Brighton Miles. A family-friendly one-mile course, the charity wave took place in Preston Park on Saturday, 5th of April, as part of the Brighton Marathon Weekend. Children with Cancer UK is the official charity partner of the Brighton Miles.

Long-distance runner, two-time Olympian and multiple British Champion, Chris Thompson, together with his family, were there to support and run the Children with Cancer UK wave. He also officially started the Brighton Marathon the next day.

Participants of all ages and abilities ran, jogged, walked or wheeled the one-mile route. They were welcomed at the event by Children with Cancer UK staff, who also supplied refreshments and children’s entertainment.

Amar Naher, Interim CEO for Children with Cancer UK, said:

We’re incredibly grateful to each of the participants of the Children with Cancer UK Wave. Sadly, cancer remains one of the leading causes of death for children and young people in the UK. Every participant today is helping to change the future for children with cancer. Their support will raise awareness so that we can achieve our vision where every child and young person survives cancer.
