Every day in the UK, 10 families are given the devastating news that their child has cancer. Of those 10, two will not survive. Children with Cancer UK funds research into the causes of childhood cancers and the development of kinder, less toxic treatments. They support young people and their families through treatment and life beyond cancer. Their vision is a world where every child and young person survives cancer.
Amar Naher, CEO of Children with Cancer UK said
We are thrilled to be hosting Children with Cancer UK’s very first Christmas concert in Bristol, and to bring everyone together for a night of festive music and charity. We hope the local community will join us for a heartwarming evening of Christmas carols. Let’s come together to spread joy, celebrate the season and support children and their families going through the unimaginable this Christmas.
Children with Cancer UK has been supporting The Grand Appeal and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) since 1997. The Grand Appeal was established in 1995 and is the official BRHC’s charity dedicated to transforming the lives of sick children and supporting their families. BRHC is part of the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust (UHBW), and has been in existence since late 1800s, with the previous site being at the top of St Michaels Hill before it moved to its new home on Upper Maudlin Street.
Anna Shepherd, Deputy Director of The Grand Appeal said:
We are very excited to be holding our first ever Christmas concert together with Children with Cancer UK. Our partnership spans over 25 years and we are delighted to be working together once again to raise money for the brave young oncology patients who are treated at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
